Originally designed for the NASA Orion project, the series 791 combines the best features of Glenair’s series 790 and HiPer-D (24308 style) connectors to yield a new class of connector – the ultraminiature rectangular. Series 791 features a dual-lobe shell and recessed pin contacts to prevent scooping damage. They are approved for manned space flight but can be used in aviation, ground vehicle, and shipboard applications. Series 791 provides high performance in a small robust rectangular connector. Typical applications include space (launch & orbital), aerospace - commercial/military/general/UAV. inflight entertainment, avionics, sensors, weapons systems, communications, line replaceable unit (LRU), black-box, airframe harnessing, flight control systems, instrumentation, military ground vehicles (tracked & wheeled), missile launchers, armoured vehicles, troop & vargo transport, shipboard, radar, communications and weapons.
